Bold Leader

I have a clear direction for the Connecticut Young Democrats.  We need to become a strong, focused and collaborative organization aimed at raising the clout of young people in politics.  I have the resolve, energy and experience to lead our group towards this goal

Collaboration and Accountability

Our organization needs to improve its communication.  Too often, chapter representatives and even E-board members are left out of vital processes, such as budgeting and event planning.  Our organization should make decisions in a manner that is open and transparent.

We need to create an environment of collaboration.  We need to spend more time discussing the details of our activities.  The biggest improvement we could make is to implement the formal adoption of a budget.  The full voting membership should vote to approve the budget.  Although the budget depends on our fundraising success, we should set goals early in the year.  The full membership should also review the expected revenues and expenditures for individual fundraisers and other events.

Allocations to individual members, including reimbursements for expenses, should be approved by the voting membership.

A Cohesive Executive Board

When I was Vice President of Organization and Development for the CT Young Democrats from 2005-2006, Executive Board meetings were not held regularly.  The Executive Board needs to step up and be the heart of this organization.

The E-board has three responsibilities:
1. To ensure that we are meeting our stated objectives.
2. To help officers implement their policies.
3. To collaborate to set a course for our organization.

The board should not be individual officers, working independently.  It should be a team, working together.  I would make it a priority to create a unified and supportive board.  I would make our leaders accountable to meeting specific membership, policy and fundraising goals.  I look forward to working with the new E-board to improve our organization.
